For press & partners
Information for media, organizations and partners who want to understand, cite or collaborate with HelpMap VE.
What it is
An open platform to locate people and help in emergencies. It's live at helpmapvzla.net since the response to the June 2026 earthquake, helping locate people admitted to hospitals or sheltered —and find shelters and donation centres— in Caracas (Distrito Capital), La Guaira, Miranda and expanded states. It's open-source and non-profit.
Who builds it
A team of three volunteer developers (Mérida, Venezuela) —Tropical Sadness x Imágenes Nacionales— together with a network of health, rescue and civic-volunteer staff. It's a non-profit citizen effort.
Impact & recognition
Built in record time and with minimal resources during the emergency. Approximate and growing figures:
- ~12,000 records processed and ~4,000 records verified at health centres.
- ~100 shelters and ~90 donation centres mapped with live needs.
- ~50 active volunteers and ~200 daily users.
- Featured by national media: Venevisión (TV) and Líder (radio).
Methodology
Data is confirmed in the field with contacts at health centres and verified manually before publishing. Each record carries a verification badge.
Privacy commitment
We don't expose minors' data or home addresses; we don't charge, show ads or sell data. Searches are private.
